In your kundliIn Chinese astrology
Your rashi, or Moon sign, is one starting point for describing character. The Day Master is the heavenly stem of your day pillar in BaZi (八字), the Chinese birth-chart system.

It is one of ten stems, such as Yang Water 壬 or Yin Wood 乙, not a zodiac sign. Every other stem and branch in the chart is read in relation to it. It is not a Moon sign or a conversion of your rashi.

A dasha is a planetary period used to discuss timing.A luck pillar (大运) is a ten-year phase in the Chinese birth-chart tradition.

The two systems use different rules. Luck pillars run forward or backward from the month pillar depending on the year's polarity and the traditional male/female rule; the starting age comes from the distance to the nearest solar term.

Your kundli has twelve houses for areas such as work, money and relationships.Zi Wei Dou Shu is a second Chinese chart with twelve life areas, called palaces.

Both organise questions by life area, and the palaces carry familiar names: Life, Siblings, Spouse, Children, Wealth, Health, Travel, Friends, Career, Property, Fortune and Parents. Their calculations and meanings differ; a palace is not the same as a kundli house, and its stars are symbolic positions, not planets.

A kundli is read through planets and their relationships. The Chinese birth chart uses five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water, each yin or yang.

Each stem and branch carries an element. Their support, control and balance around the Day Master are what a BaZi reading actually interprets. These are traditional categories, not substitutes for planets or scientific measurements.

Birth time matters when a kundli is calculated. It matters here too. The hour pillar and the Zi Wei chart depend on it.

Hours are Chinese double-hours: 子 runs 23:00–01:00, 丑 01:00–03:00 and so on. Unknown or approximate time stays labelled. We do not substitute noon, and an unsupported combined purchase is blocked.

When does my next career phase start?

A question of this kind in Jyotish

A Jyotish reading may discuss career-related houses and dasha periods. The rules depend on the practitioner's tradition.

Doosri Kundli · sample reading excerpt

In 2026 you are in the 丁丑 luck pillar (ages 35–44, 2024–2033). Its stem 丁 is Fire, 正财 Direct Wealth; its branch 丑 is Earth, 正官 Direct Officer. Direct Wealth is the element the Day Master controls, with the opposite polarity. Fire is not among your favourable elements, so this decade asks for more effort and patience. A luck pillar colours the decade; it does not fix events.
Is this a year to switch fields?

A question of this kind in Jyotish

A Jyotish reading may consider work-related themes and periods alongside the question. This comparison does not calculate or interpret a Jyotish chart.

Doosri Kundli · sample reading excerpt

Visible Resource stars point to a career built on learning, credentials, advising and the backing of institutions or elders; knowledge is your capital. Hurting Officer on a visible stem gives sharp talent that needs an outlet: it shines in creative, strategic or independent work and chafes under rigid hierarchy. With no Officer star at all, structure and position are not handed to you; the tradition says you build your own discipline and boundaries, and Officer-strong luck pillars bring exactly that. Because the Day Master is weak, fields, people and periods connected with Water and Metal make work easier.
Does a difficult decade mean everything goes wrong?

A question of this kind in Jyotish

A Jyotish reading may discuss a period's traditional themes. Interpretations differ; this is a description of the framework, not a reading for you.

01 / FOUR PILLARS

BaZi

BaZi (八字), also known as Four Pillars, describes the year, month, day and hour of birth through a traditional calendrical system: each pillar is a heavenly stem and an earthly branch. The day stem is the Day Master, and the chart is read through the Ten Gods, hidden stems, seasonal strength and ten-year luck pillars.

Saju shares the Four Pillars foundation; conventions and interpretation can vary between schools.

02 / A SEPARATE PERSPECTIVE

Zi Wei Dou Shu

Zi Wei uses a different traditional chart, arranging named stars across twelve palaces: Life, Siblings, Spouse, Children, Wealth, Health, Travel, Friends, Career, Property, Fortune and Parents. Each major star carries a brightness and may take one of the four transformations. It has its own inputs, calendar rules and interpretation framework.

We label this layer separately and explain differences, rather than inventing a combined accuracy score.

Calculated facts. Interpreted meaning.

Deterministic software calculates a chart from the birth inputs. The reading then interprets those saved facts with AI using documented context. The AI is never responsible for calculating pillars or star placements. Each report preserves its input, conventions and generation versions.

The conventions, stated plainly.

  • The BaZi year changes at Li Chun (立春, around 4 February), while the Zi Wei chart follows the lunar New Year. For a birth between those two dates the year animal can differ between the systems; that is two calendar conventions, not an error.
  • Hours are Chinese double-hours: 子 runs 23:00–01:00, 丑 01:00–03:00 and so on. A birth after 23:00 is late Rat (晚子): the day pillar keeps the civil date and the hour stem follows the next day's rule.
  • The hour pillar uses civil clock time. Some schools adjust to local solar time at the birthplace (a longitude and equation-of-time correction). We do not apply that correction silently; where it would change the hour branch, the chart shows the difference.
  • Zi Wei “stars” such as 紫微 and 天机 are symbolic positions, placed into the twelve palaces by a fixed procedure from the lunar date and hour. They are not astronomical bodies and do not correspond to the planets of a kundli.
  • The traditional male/female rule sets the direction of the BaZi luck pillars (ten-year phases) and the decade order in Zi Wei. The four natal pillars are calculated without it; the timing cycles and the Zi Wei chart require it.

The details matter.

A birthplace resolves to coordinates and a historical time zone. A date near a calendar boundary or an uncertain birth hour can change parts of a chart. We show uncertainty and restrict unsupported readings before payment. Unknown time is never silently replaced with noon.
